Prepared To Give An Answer

Hey everyone, Josh here. Well the website is getting close to done, and I'm hoping to have the podcast up and running soon as well, so I figure it's time to start bloggin'! Just yesterday, I got a message from a fellow (or maybe fellowess? I think it was a girl. anyway...) on Youtube who had seen a worship video I had posted and she asked,

"What do you think about God? and the after life?"

So what is our view on the afterlife? What do we think of God? What do we do when someone asks us such a blunt question? Well, we should be overjoyed! We might hand out tracts to a hundred people before one asks us to share the Gospel with them. So when someone is finally asking to hear the Gospel, we've got to be ready. Peter encouraged believers to always have an answer ready:

1 Peter 3:15 But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,
1 Peter 3:16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.

We must be ready at a moment's notice; how terrible the day if we miss an opportunity to share the Gospel with someone. For this reason, let us show ourselves diligent, a workman who does not need to be ashamed. Let us be one who correctly handles the Word of Truth, just as Paul encouraged Timothy in 2nd Timothy 2:15. Let us be those who fan into flame the gifts God has given us. Let us be those who are not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but rather are ready and willing to spread this message everywhere, no matter what the cost.
